At Smart Start, we believe that all children have the potential to learn and grow. We do not believe that a uniform approach is the answer to treating developmental disorders. It has been said, “If you’ve met one child with autism, you’ve only met one child with autism.” This means that each child has different strengths and weaknesses. We aim to encourage growth and balance individual needs with children. It provides a natural environment by applying a variety of effective and reliable methods to ensure that children are truly motivated and actively engaged in learning. We focus on developing verbal behavior and play skills while dealing with behaviors that may interfere with learning and utilize “areas of interest” to facilitate social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development. Additionally, therapists are highly educated in ABA practice and receive ongoing support and training from supervisors. Smart Start provides centrally based behavioral therapy based on the principles of applied behavioral analysis (ABA) with a focus on verbal behavior.
